“Transform Your Online Courses: Secrets to Unlocking Engagement and Success”

"Create Engaging Online Course Content with Competitor Analysis - Instructional Designer Wanted"

Yesterday, as I navigated through the maze of my current eLearning projects, a notification caught my eye, pulling me away from the world of content modules and interactive assessments. It was an alert from Fiverr, a platform I frequent for freelance opportunities. The subject line immediately piqued my interest: “Create Engaging Online Course Content with Competitor Analysis – Instructional Designer Wanted.” My heart raced with anticipation at the thought of embarking on a new, potentially groundbreaking project.

The job description laid out a compelling challenge: to create an online course that not only educates but also captivates, leveraging competitor analysis to ensure the content stands out in a crowded market. The prospect of outlining, developing, and launching a course on Thinkific LMS was exactly the kind of comprehensive project I thrive on. With my experience in program curriculum, lesson planning, eLearning design, and learning management systems, I felt uniquely equipped to bring this vision to life.

“The thrill of crafting educational experiences that truly make a difference is what drives me as an Instructional Designer.”

The job posting struck a chord with me, not just for its promise of creative freedom but also for its emphasis on competitive analysis. It’s a testament to the client’s commitment to excellence, recognizing the importance of not just participating in the market but leading it. This is the kind of project that excites me: one where I can apply my full range of skills to create a course that is both informative and engaging.

Reflecting on a previous project, I remembered the satisfaction of building an online course on Digital Marketing from scratch. The challenge of researching, creating, and revising content, all fueled by determination and copious amounts of coffee, was a vivid and exhilarating memory. It was a reminder of the impact such projects can have on both learners and my personal growth as a designer.

The success of that Digital Marketing course, evidenced by the client’s satisfaction and increased user engagement, was a milestone in my career. It bolstered my confidence and broadened my portfolio, reinforcing my love for this work. The current job posting felt like a call back to that time, offering a chance to dive into another intensive, rewarding project.

Here’s the original job post for those curious about the details:

Greetings Fiverr Community,

We are on the hunt for an adept, innovative online course creator who can inject life into learning materials. We are looking for a maestro who can craft an engaging, comprehensive, and informative online course to enlighten our learners on various captivating topics. Structure and organization are paramount; we want our course content to be as captivating as a best-selling novel.

Your responsibilities will span from conducting a detailed competitor’s analysis to creating an engrossing outline. You’ll develop content so compelling that it grips our learners and then launch it on the Thinkific LMS with the finesse of a seasoned professional.

Consider this project your audition. If your work strikes the right chord, you’ll be at the center stage taking on the full job.

Applicants must have a sound understanding of eLearning and Instructional Design principles and must be skilled in Program Curriculum, Workshop, Online Instruction, Course Design, Lesson planning, and Learning Management Systems. Experience with Thinkific LMS would be an added advantage.

Please note: The budget for the test project is $10.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. We can’t wait to be wowed by your creativity and expertise.

Read Between The Lines

Upon a second reading, my initial excitement was tempered by the realization that the budget—$10 for the test project—did not align with the value I place on my work. This discrepancy between the project’s scope and the proposed compensation led me to a difficult decision.

Decision Time

Despite the project’s appeal, I decided not to apply. The financial terms did not meet my baseline requirement of $1000USD, a standard I uphold to ensure that my work is appropriately valued.

Crafting A Reply

Choosing to maintain a positive relationship with the potential client, I crafted a response that communicated my decision respectfully:

“Dear Hiring Manager,

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute to such a fascinating project. The scope and creative potential of the work are genuinely appealing. However, after careful consideration, I’ve concluded that the budget does not reflect the level of effort and expertise required. I must, therefore, respectfully decline to apply.

I remain enthusiastic about the possibility of working on future projects that align more closely with my professional value. I wish you the best in finding the right fit for this role and look forward to potential collaborations down the line.

Best Regards, Adam”
